SMS/Text Messaging Policy & Privacy Notice
Kinetik offers SMS/text messaging as an optional communication method for appointment reminders, scheduling updates, and other non-sensitive information related to your care. This policy explains how we use SMS, how your information is handled, and your rights regarding these communications.
1. Consent to Receive SMS Messages
By providing your mobile number and submitting consent through our intake forms or patient portal, you authorize Kinetik to send SMS/text messages to the number you provided. These messages may include appointment reminders, scheduling information, and general program updates.
2. Not for Emergencies or Urgent Needs
SMS messages are not monitored continuously and should not be used for urgent or emergency communication.
For urgent matters, please call our office directly.
For life-threatening emergencies, call 911 immediately.
3. Privacy and Security
Standard SMS is not encrypted and may not be HIPAA-secure. Kinetik limits SMS content to non-sensitive information and encourages clients not to send protected health information by text.
4. Messaging Rates and Fees
Message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile carrier and plan. Any charges associated with receiving text messages from Kinetik are the responsibility of the mobile account holder.
5. Opt-Out Procedure
You may opt out of SMS communication at any time by replying “STOP” to any message you receive from us. Once you opt out, you will no longer receive text messages unless you provide new consent.
6. Delivery and Response Expectations
Message delivery cannot be guaranteed. If you do not receive a response within 24 hours, or if your matter is time-sensitive, please contact our office through another method (phone or patient portal message).
7. Use and Disclosure of Mobile Information
Kinetik does not share, sell, or disclose mobile phone numbers, SMS opt-in data, message content, or related personal information to third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
In accordance with carrier and compliance requirements:
No mobile information will be shared with third parties/affiliates for marketing/promotional purposes. All other categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.
